Speaking with abs-cbnNEWS, Manny Pacquiao said that he would agree to a 55-45 split for the upcoming May 2 battle with Ricky Hatton. If the two sides can agree to 55-45, he will accept the fight and move forward. After Pacquiao turned down a 50-50 split last week, back and forth negotiations have been taking place around the clock, with both sides trying to save the fight.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum presented a split of 52-48 in Pacquiao's favor, but Manny turned it down. However, he is willing to agree to a 55-45 split, a bit lower than his initial demand of a 60-40 split.
"I think they’re willing to adjust and that the fight will push through. They were able to adjust the 50-50 sharing. Just a little bit more...and I’ll say yes to 55-45," Pacquiao said.
Pacquiao says the fight will be very exciting because of the similiar fighting styles.
"I’m sure this will be an exciting fight. We both like to charge and we’re both strong. My fighting style is similar to Hatton’s so we have to make some adjustments… just like in our fight against de la Hoya, we will go into long training," Pacquiao said.
