Mexican slugger Pablo Cesar Cano (27-3-1, 20KOs) is planning to go after some titles at junior welterweight. In his last four fights, Cano has been jumping between 140 and 147-pounds. A few months ago he dropped a decision to Shane Mosley in a welterweight bout which took place in Cancun, Mexico.
On Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, he won a ten round split decision over British fighter Ashley Theophane at a catch-weight of 143-pounds. At Friday's weigh-in, Cano weighed closer to 141.
"I felt a lot stronger [at a lower weight]. I felt very good at this weight. The contract was for 143-pounds and I made 141. The next couple of fights I want to get down to 140," Cano said
