Pablo Cesar Cano could return to the ring in late February or early March, manager Rolando Arellano recently told Boxingscene.com.

One option for Cano (27-3-1, 20 KOs) is fighting on the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez card that takes place on March 8th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV.

No word yet on an opponent for Cano, who is coming off a 12 round split decision victory over Ashley Theophane on September 14th.

There is also speculation as to what weight class Cano will fight at in 2014. Cano fought Theophane at a catch-weight of 141 ½ pounds, but fought twice at welterweight against Shane Mosley and Paul Malignaggi.

Cano lost a close 12 round unanimous decision against Shane Mosley in May and by split decision to Malignaggi in October of 2010. A majority of media thought Cano did enough to defeat Malignaggi.

Cano is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.
