BoxingScene.com was informed by Shelly Finkel, adviser to heavyweight champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, that Vitali did not generate $25 million for his TKO win over Albert Sosnowski on May 29 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The inflated number of $25 million is running wild in the Russian press. Finkel tells BoxingScene the actual number is "not even close" to the number being reported in the Russian media.
The tickets prices were also inflated in overseas reports. Close to 46,000 came to Veltins Arena to watch the fight, and the highest ticket was under 600 euros, and not 1500 euros as other reports had suggested. And, there was no pay-per-view for the event in Germany, Russia or Ukraine.
