Featherweight prospect Oscar Valdez made a bit of a statement last Friday night at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas by stopping former title challenger, Chris Avalos, in five rounds. It was a fight that was the main event on truTV. The victory improved his mark to 17-0 (15 KO's).

So what's next for the former two-time Mexican Olympian?

According to his manager, Frank Espinoza - "We have a fight lined up for him in December. We don't have the exact location and venue, yet. But Top Rank has assured me that Oscar will definitely be back in December to finish out the year. They were very pleased with his last outing."

Valdez, thought to be one of Top Rank's future stars is now transitioning to ten round fights.

As for where he will perform, Espinoza explained,"Right now, we're not sure. It could be in Mexico or on a UniMas card in the States. It's still up in the air."
