Super bantamweight prospect Oscar Negrete (13-0) believes that he is already ready for a world title shot.
That may seem a little bit bold considering that the Colombian fighter only has logged 13 fights as a professional but after tonight's fight against Jose Bustos in the Estrella TV main event, he hopes that his a manager and Golden Boy Promotions can get him the biggest fight possible.
"I believe I have the experience I need to challenge for a world title now but I probably need a few more fights to get the rankings from the organizations I need. So hopefully after his fight I can get the fight I need so that I can fight for a title," Negrete told BoxingScene.com last week after a training session. I've had really good sparring. I just have the last couple pounds to lose."
A lot of Negrete's confidence comes from his previous bout when he dominated the then undefeated Neftali Campos (11-0) at Belasco Theatre where tonight's fight will also take place.
The high volume puncher said that he now knows he can keep his high output up for more than just 4 or 6 rounds.
"In my last fight I learned I could fight 8 rounds with no problem at my normal pace which is throwing a lot of punches. I take that experience to this fight and I really want to get a stoppage," said Negrete.
