According to Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, the rematch between Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is almost done. The two met last May, with Mayweather winning a close-split decision in Las Vegas. The rematch is slated for September and is sure to land once again in Las Vegas. The pay-per-view set an all-time record with 2.4 million buys.

Schaefer revealed the news to media members during a conference call and says the promotion for the rematch will be even bigger than the mega-blitz that was put together for the first fight.

"We are working on getting everything finalized. We’re almost there. There will be most likely we will have some news to recap the next. We are working on putting together final touches to really make this fight and we are working on putting together a spectacular never seen promotion which will really capture the interest and the imagination of the boxing, sports fans, and the general public from around the world," Schaefer said.

"[There are] no obstacles. Both fighters want it. That’s the most important thing and so there's absolutely no issue. It’s just the matter of getting everything on paper."
