Contrary to other reports, Jeff Wald, promoter of Steve Forbes, informed BoxingScene.com that a proposed fight with Oscar De La Hoya was "not done yet." Forbes is the frontrunner to face De La Hoya at a catch-weight of 150-pounds on May 3.

The fight will take place on regular HBO, and not pay-per-view. It marks the first off-pay-per-view fight for De La Hoya since 2001. He plans to use the May date as a tune-up for a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September.

Most insiders expect Forbes to land the deal because he's more in line with Mayweather's style, and also because Paulie Malignaggi and Dmitriy Salita, the other two candidates, are asking for a lot more money.
