Former six division champion Oscar De La Hoya has no desire to return to the ring. He seems more than happy to sit back and call the shots as the president of Golden Boy Promotions. In his last ring outing, De La Hoya was battered for eight rounds before he made a decision to retire on his stool. A few months later he retired from the ring at the age of 36.
De La Hoya tells BoxingScene.com's Robert Morales that he plans to move from Puerto Rico to Los Angeles in order to take a more active role with his company. He admits that he can no longer compete with the top fighters of the sport.
"I'm actually enjoying it. To this day, I still say to myself, 'Wow, I'm not fighting ever again,' because I love boxing. I love the game, I love training, I love competing. But I can't do it anymore. Physically, I can't compete against the best. One side of me says, 'Maybe you can go and fight these guys that are C- or B-level and you can probably still win.' But A-level is where I always want to be. And I just can't do it anymore. I'm content. I'm satisfied," De La Hoya said.
