Ireland’s Jason Quigley fights for the fourth time as a professional tonight and goes into his bout against Lanny Dardar with the praise of Oscar De La Hoya, his promoter, ringing in his ears. The 23-year-old turned pro with Golden Boy in July, a first-round TKO over Howard Reece, and has already shown enough potential to excite De La Hoya.
“Jason is going to be one of the highlights in the ring at the sold-out LA Fight Club premiere Los Angeles,” stated De La Hoya when speaking to The Sun (Irish edition). “Golden Boy Promotions believes Jason Quigley has what it takes to be a champion and that's why we signed him. Quigley has dominated his opponents in all of his fights since turning pro. I'm proud of what he's accomplished and I know he will make the fans back home in Ballybofey proud once again after this fight.”
Quigley netted a gold at the European championships and silver at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in 2013. He has been back to the hilt by De La Hoya, who knows all there is to know about getting to world level, and will hope to move to 4-0 tonight as he opens his 2015 ledger.
