Orozco Looks Ahead, Mauricio Herrera in His Future?

Coming off his victory over Humberto Soto on Saturday night as the co-feature on HBO's 'Boxing After Dark' from the StubHub Center in Carson, Antonio Orozco and his team are now looking ahead to the future.

By outboxing the veteran over ten rounds, he improved his mark to 23-0 (15 KO's) and has stamped himself as a junior welterweight contender.

According to his manager, Frank Espinoza - "After the fight in the ring, the Golden Boy brass mentioned to us the possibility of Mauricio Herrera. That's a fight we'd certainly be interested in. Herrera is a veteran with a really solid track record and I think it would be a really entertaining fight."

Herrera (22-5, 7 KO's) is best known for his victory over Ruslan Provodnikov and controversial losses to Danny Garcia and Jose Benavides. He last fought at the L.A. Sports Arena on July 11th where he was awarded a fifth round technical decision against Hank Lundy. An early clash of heads caused a severe cut over Herrera's eye causing the fight to be halted.

Espinoza said of Orozco's outing - "I think he showed some dimensions in boxing that not a lot of people thought he had but he's really developing into a complete fighter and it's getting really close to that point where Antonio can fight anyone in the junior welterweight division."
