If junior welterweight contender Antonio Orozco wins this Friday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California against Abner Lopez, he could be in line for a big showcase in his next bout underneath Saul Alvarez, who is scheduled to face WBO 154-pound titlist, Liam Smith.
His manager Frank Espinoza told BoxingScene.com,"We're looking to come back on September 17th. That's the plan. Hopefully after this fight we fight for the world title." Orozco is currently rated by all four major sanctioning bodies and number one by the WBC (who's title is currently held by Viktor Postol).
Recently, Orozco re-signed with Golden Boy Promotions and according to Espinoza the new deal called for his client to appear on 'Canelo's pay-per-view undercard.
"That was the agreement our attorney, Pat English, worked out and we're happy to be part of that event but first and foremost we've got to win the fight on July 30th."
Espinoza said of the new deal with Golden Boy - "This is where we started, this is where we're going to finish. We've had a good relationship with Golden Boy and we're happy to be part of the Golden Boy family and Antonio's excited, I'm excited and we look forward to working with Golden Boy."
