Sources in Mexico are advising BoxingScene.com that WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido (35-11-2, 23KOs) is planning to make a hometown defense in Sonora, Mexico. The date of July 23 has been set aside for the Mexican slugger. Salido is mentally focused on making the first defense of his title before a loyal crowd of hometown fans. Folowing his July defense, Salido would be more than happy to provide Juan Manuel Lopez with a rematch. Last month in Puerto Rico, Salido stopped Lopez in the eight round to capture the WBO crown in one of the biggest upsets of the year. Lopez wants to rematch Salido in August, but the Mexican champion has other plans in mind.
