It looks as though Orlando Salido (43-13-4, 30KOs) and Vasyl Lomachenko are headed in separate directions for the fall.
So how about a match-up between Salido and Takashi Miura (30-3-2, 23KOs)? The fight is being discussed between Golden Boy Promotions and Teiken Promotions.
Eric Gomez, the Sr. V.P. of Golden Boy Promotions, tells BoxingScene.com,"We represent Salido, we have options on him. We represent him as the co-promoter for the next couple of fights and that's a fight we're interested in doing and the Miura side with (Akihiko) Honda, they're interested as well."
Back on June 4th, Salido fought to a twelve round draw with WBC super featherweight world champion Francisco Vargas, who is represented by Golden Boy. Last November as part of the Canelo Alvarez-Miguel Cotto undercard, Miura was stopped in nine rounds by Vargas in what was considered the 2015 'Fight of the Year'.
Salido-Miura figures to a fan-friendly, all-action type of affair and there is televised interest in the contest.
"HBO is interested in the fight and we're trying to work it out," said Gomez. "We're trying to figure out when's the best time to do it. I think it can be done before the end of the year. I think there's a good possibility. So we're working towards that and we'll know soon."
