When Mexican featherweight contender Orlando Salido arrived to a press conference in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, he was shocked to see a chubby Juan Manuel Lopez, who appears to have put on a substantial amount of weight. Salido estimates that Juanma weighs at least 150-pounds.
Juanma, who defends the WBO featherweight title against Salido on April 16, admits that he does currently weigh around the welterweight limit. The featherweight limit is 126-pounds. Salido feels Juanma could possibly struggle in their fight from having to shed off 25-pounds in camp. Juanma moved up to featherweight two fights ago after stuggling with the super bantamweight limit of 122.
"He looks very heavy, very full. I look at him and I think that he's over 150 pounds. That's a lot of weight. I'm about 140 pounds and I think that it might affect him. He can be weakened physically due to a long struggle to make the weight," Salido said.
