Undefeated featherweight Orlando Cruz (16-0, 7KOs) of Puerto Rico has signed a three year deal with Golden Boy Promotions. Cruz said that he was considering offers from PR Best Boxing, DiBella Ent. and Warriors Boxing but settled on the deal that was presented by Golden Boy. In his last fight, Cruz stopped Leonilo Miranda (then 30-0, 28KOs) in five rounds.
"Right now it is the best company in the world, and they have the television connections to give me the exposure that I deserve," Cruz told Primera Hora. "They offered me a very good contract that guarantees me four to five fights per year. It has been the best birthday gift that I have ever received."
Cruz is being considered for a position on the Floyd Mayweather Jr-Juan Manuel Marquez undercard on Sept. 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
