Orlando 'The Phenomenon' Cruz, inactive since February 20 of last year when he lost his second straight, by knockout, in a brawl with Daniel Ponce de Leon, will reappear on May 13 on a card co-promoted by Miguel Cotto and Golden Boy Promotions in the coliseum Angel 'Cholo' Espada in Salinas, Puerto Rico.
“After that fight we decided to take a break to think about what I wanted to do and I took advantage of the time. I'm finishing my studies in New York in English and I'll be concentrating on sports medicine beginning in June. And I'll be back on May 13 in Salinas," he said.
Cruz, 30-years-old with a 16-2-1 record, said that he is taking his training more seriously.
"I'm more mature. This fight will be at 128 pounds but I will continue at 126. I want to get back my confidence. Gaby Peñagaricano will inform us who the opponent is. I have the ability. I'm not bad, but I have not had any luck. But look at Orlando Salido, with 11 defeats he became champion again," Cruz said.
