Jonathan Oquendo, Jayson Velez and Eric Morel are the fighters who make up the trilogy of Puerto Ricans who might be facing Mexico's Jorge 'Travieso' Arce in his first defense of the WBO super bantamweight title. Last Saturday in Las Vegas, Arce stopped Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Vazquez in the twelfth round to capture the belt.

Oquendo is the third ranked in that division while Vélez occupies the tenth ranked position, while Morel is a two-time world champion (115 and 118 pounds) who was close to facing Arce in a bantamweight clash last year but the fight fell apart due to injury.

According to reports, there were approaches in Las Vegas regarding Arce going up against Oquendo or Velez and on Wednesday, in an interview with BoxingScene.com/Sport Press, Morel did not rule out the possibility of moving up in weight to challenge Arce for the title.

Vélez (15-0, 12KOs) returns on July 29 in Ponce against Carlos Valcárcel (12-2-4, 5 KOs). Oquendo should be defending his NABO belt on June 3 at the coliseum Antonio R. Barceló.
