Unscrupulous elements in Thailand who have a history of using fake names and identities of some boxers have once again been found out. As a result the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation has nullified the results of a title fight in Jeju, Korea on May 18.
OPBF and Japan Boxing Commission executive director Koji Ishizuka announced the decision following reports from the Korean Boxing Commission and the Thai Boxing Commission on the investigation of the real identity of the Thai challenger who fought for the super lightweight title held by Korea’s Jung Bum Kim.
The OPBF said the Thai challenger was supposed to be Singhtothong Fluoridegym whose real name is Samart Ngamsanga but the Thai fighter who “actually fought had fraudulently assumed the identity of Singhtothong.”
The OPBF said that they researched into the real identity of the fake challenger who lost by a first round TKO and discovered that the Thai’s real name was Chaiyaporn Chankhiao and not Samart Ngamsanga and decided that “the match was not a legal, valid title bout.”
With the decision nullifying the title fight Korea ’s OPBF super lightweight champion Jung Bum Kim’s record stands at 31-23-1 with 27 knockouts.
