Tommy Oosthuizen and Ryno Liebenberg are among six boxers who will fight for a winner’s prize of R1.6 million in South Africa later this year.

Oosthuizen, a former IBO super-middleweight champion, will move up a division to compete in the R5-million Super Six light-heavyweight series at Emperors Palace, Kempton Park.

Rodney Berman's Golden Gloves Promotions announced the names of the six boxers on Thursday. Johnny Muller is the other South African in the line-up.

Roberto Bolonti from Argentina, Dennis Grachev from Russia and Namibia’s Willbeforce Shihepo complete the list.

The six boxers will each earn R250 000 for the first tournament, with all three fights scheduled for 12 rounds. Those who reach the second round stand to add R350 000. The winner will receive another R1 million for the final, pushing his total to R1.6 million, and the runner-up will take home another R500 000.

Liebenberg is sixth on the WBC light-heavyweight rankings list, Bolonti seventh and Grachev twelfth.

Bolonti will challenge Jürgen Brähmer for the WBA title on June 7 before he arrives to fight Muller in the first tournament. Oosthuizen, who is seeded No 1, will take on Shihepo and Liebenberg faces Grachev.

Bolonti is a veteran of 37 professional fights, of which he lost only two and won 24 inside the distance. Grachev has won 13, lost 3 and drew one of his fights. He has stopped eight of his opponents.

Shihepo's record stands at 21-8, with 16 wins inside the distance and Liebenberg's at 15-0, with 11 knockouts. Muller has won 16, lost 3 and drawn two of his bouts, stopping 12 of his opponents.

The WBA has installed Oosthuizen, who is undefeated after 24 professional fights, including two draws, at No 4 on its list even though he has not fought at light-heavyweight. He defended his IBO super-middleweight title seven times.

On the undercard of the first tournament, Paul Kamanga from the Democratic Republic of the Congo will fight Kaizer Mabuza for the vacant WBC international title.
