Featherweights Omar Trinidad and Lorenzo Parra fought to a majority draw on Friday night at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California. The scores were 96-94 for Trinidad and 95-95, twice.

The action heated up in the third, both throwing with bad intentions on the ropes in the third round and both landing heavy shots. The round ended with Parra pushing Trinidad back to the ropes. Trinidad became more aggressive in the fourth, fighting on the front foot for the majority of the round. The middle rounds saw the fighters locked in close, competitive rounds as the crowd roared Trinidad’s name in support. Trinidad was happy to play to the crowd, obliging their cheers.

Parra’s will to win and forward pressure forced Trinidad to adjust. Trinidad closed the show with his power, stalking Parra as he loaded up on big shots in the ninth, but Parra continued to land telling blows to make the fight close. In the final round, Parra landed a right hand on Trinidad. After the blow landed, Trinidad urged him to trade with him in the middle of the ring, as the two had an intense exchange leading to the final bell.

After the fight, Trinidad acknowledged it was a close fight, but stated that he believed that he won. He also dedicated the fight to a friend who just recently passed away.

Trinidad is now 19-0-2 (13 KOs), while Parra is 23-1-1 (17 KOs).
