Argentina's Omar Narvaez, the former flyweight and super flyweight world champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), dominated Venezuelan Breilor Teran over ten rounds at the Municipal Gymnasium in the city of Trelew. The score was 100-89 on all three scorecards.
"El Huracan" Narvaez, 40-years-old, was making the first defense of the Latino bantamweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF). The event was promoted by OFR Promotions.
Narvaez (46-2-2 , 24 KO) won the vacant IBF bantamweight strap by scoring a technical knockout in eight rounds over Venezuelan Jesus Vargas at the New Stadium 'Aurinegro' of Puerto Madryn, Chubut on the 19th of February.
This bout served as a measuring stick for Narvaez, who has his eyes firmly fixated on landing a title shot against IBF kingpin Lee Haskins, who last month retained his belt win a twelve round decision over Mexico's Ivan Morales.
Narvaez is hoping to get a world title shot by the end of this year or early 2017 at the latest.
Teran (30-years-old) hails from the city of Maracaibo; in his last fight on the 10 of April he won the flyweight belt by beating Venezuela Freddy Beleno - the only man to ever beat him by TKO. He previously lost a decision to former world champion Juan Carlos Reveco and saw the recent loss to Narvaez drop his record to 26 wins (15 KO) and 13 losses.
