After ten intense weeks of work, Omar "Businessman" Chavez closed his preparation for his match on Saturday night against Argentine contender Jose Carlos "Puro" Paz.

Chavez (26-4-1, 24 KO's) and Paz (21-7-1, 12 KO's) will clash over ten rounds at super welterweight in the main event of the evening that Zanfer Promotions will mount in the Palenque of FENADU in Durango.

Chavez held the first six weeks of his camp in his native Culiacán, Sinaloa, and the last four weeks were in Guadalajara, Jalisco, where he says his stamina increased because of the high elevation.

Chavez, 28, states that he's in great physical and mental form for his upcoming commitment.

"We made a great preparation with my entire team, I am very well physically and mentally, we prepared ourselves very hard and we are aware of what this fight represents," Chavez said.

Chávez will return to the ring after nine months of inactivity following his decision loss to Robert "La Amenaza" Garcia last August in the city of Monterrey.

He looks to resume the path of victory that puts him in position to fight for a world championship.

"You learn a lot from defeats and I have decided to dedicate myself and dedicate myself more thoroughly in boxing," said Omar.

Chavez is promoted by Zanfer Promotions, who also handle newly crowned WBO junior middleweight champion Jaime Munguia, who this past Saturday night demolished Sadam Ali for the title at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York. Ali went down four times before the contest was waved off.

"Congratulations to Jaime Munguía, he looked good, he is a good person but this is a sport and a business. We are with the same promoter, and if I come out looking really good from my fight this Saturday - I am ready," Chavez said.

More than likely, Munguia will be ordered to face his mandatory - British contender Liam Smith, who was scheduled to fight Ali last weekend but withdrew with an illness.
