Welterweight/junior middleweight contender Omar Chavez, the son of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., is highly motivated because Zanfer Promotions has confirmed that his rematch with Jorge "Maromerito" Paez will take in his hometown of Culiacan, on the 21st of July.
"If the fight wasn't in my country, no problem, I would face Paez anywhere. I have nothing against 'Maromerito', but I want to avenge the defeat that struck me and make it clear publicly that I can overcome [the loss]," Omar said.
Last December in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Paez won a close points decision over Omar, handing the younger boxer his first defeat as a pro.
"It's a fight for pride because I really want to get even. I was going to face another opponent on June 9, but things changed and I'll go against Paez," Omar said.
The fight between Omar (28-1-1, 21 KOs) and Paez (31-4-1, 19 KOs) will be a ten round welterweight fight, according to Zanfer Promotions.
