MEXICALI, BC. - Omar “El Businessman” Chavez is eager to step into the ring on Saturday when he faces Alberto "La Mosca" Martinez at Foro Promocasa in Mexicali, Baja California. Chavez (26-0-1, 18 KOs) vs. Martinez (15-1, 10 KOs) is agreed to take place over ten rounds at welterweight and it's going to be broadcast by TV Azteca. The event will feature Jorge "Maromerito" Paez Jr. (34-4-1, 18 KOs), who faces Rodrigo Juarez (20-13, 14 KOs) over ten rounds at welterweight.
Omar Chavez, 21-years-old trained for six weeks at the "Kochules" Gym in Los Mochis directed by Don Manuel Montiel.
"I got a lot of preparation. Mr. Montiel is very experienced and fits me well, some things fit into my workouts and I'm in excellent condition," said Chavez, son of the living legend Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., and the younger brother of world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Sr.
