Larry ‘War Machine’ Olubamiwo clubbed the usually durable Dave Ferguson into defeat in a single round at the Brentwood Centre, Essex earlier tonight, posting his biggest professional win in the process.
Larry, now 9-1 (8), was out of the blocks early, harassing Ferguson, who slips to 12-3 (4) and loses outside of the Prizefighter format for the first time, across the ring with some clubbing blows.
A solid shot to the head of Wallsend’s big man left Ferguson slumped on the canvas, he looked wary and dazed, referee Howard Foster counting him out in the act of rising and signalling Larry’s sixth first-round win.
The Hackney-based behemoth is inching toward a showdown with fellow Londoner, and British title holder, Derek ‘Del Boy’ Chisora; Larry, though, admitted that he is still three or four fights away from a title tilt when speaking to Ed Robinson of Sky Sports.
