Two undefeated contenders will clash on August 15 in a make or break fight in the heavyweight division. Kevin Johnson (22-0-1, 9 KOs) will face 2004 Olympic gold medal winner Odlanier Solis (14-0, 10 KOs) on Top Rank's Pinoy Power pay-per-view from the Hard Rock in Las Vegas.
Top Rank, who co-promote Solis with Arena Box, and Star Boxing, who promote Johnson, told Dan Rafael that everything is agree upon and the fight will happen.
"The paperwork is being drawn up but everything has been agreed to," said Top Rank VP Carli Moretti. "It's an important fight for both guys."
Solis has not looked like a world beater in some of his recent fights. Johnson doesn't have a lot of power but he does have the boxing tools to beat Solis, who many view as an ordinary heavyweight. The fight is a pick'em and could go either way. On paper Johnson should have the edge. A win for Solis would go a long way to silence some of his critics.
