At Mallory Square in Key West, Florida, rising heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis (16-0, 12KOs) extended his undefeated record with a three round stoppage of experienced Carl Drumond (26-3, 20KOs) in the main event of a "Top Rank Live" telecast on Fox Sports. Drumond had never been stopped prior to this bout and went the distance with former heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev.

After two rounds of Solis stalking, the action opened up at the end of the third round when Solis caught Drumond with a few combinations to put him on unsteady legs. Drumond would not come out for the fourth round.

Undercard Action

In a featherweight match, a battle of unbeatens saw Jorge Diaz (13-0, 8KOs) beat Alejandro Lopez (13-1, 2KOs) with a unanimous eight round decision. Diaz was tested. All three judges had it 76-74.

In first round, Diaz landed a hard hook in the final minute to drop Lopez. He got to his feet and survived until the bell. The same result in the second round, with Diaz dropping Lopez with series of hooks. Lopez mananged to hold on until the bell. In the third, Diaz stunned Lopez a few times but he held every time. In the fourth, Lopez stunned Diaz with two hard hooks but does not hit hard enough to do serious damage. Diaz went back to boxing to take the fifth, but Lopez came back to do better in the sixth. Diaz was swelling and had some blood flowing from the nose and mouth at the start of the seventh and was very winded by the end of the round. During the eight, it was close with both having their moments. Lopez ended better with some good shots.

Junior middleweight Glen Tapia (4-0, 3KOs) stopped Carlos Rodriguez (3-3, 3KOs) after two rounds. In one of the weirdest scenes in a boxing ring, the cup of Rodriguez nearly came off and time had to be called in the second round to fully remove the cup.
