WBA I/C light heavyweight champ Vyacheslav Uzelkov headlines K2 East´s show in Kiev on June 14 billed as "the Night of Steel Power". Who Uzelkov will fight isn´t ready yet. In the co-feature middle Maxim Bursak will defend the IBF Youth title.
Cuban heavyweight star Odlanier Solis still has problems with getting a visa for the US. Thus his fight against Fransois Both will now go ahead July 4 in Turkey on the Sam vs Skelton show. Solis tunes up on Saturday (June 7) against overmatched Dutchman Harry Duiven, Jr, who at one time beat his own father in what was claimed to be a legitimate professional boxing match. The Hatterheim show is an annual charity event put on by Hako Sevecke.
Norwegian cruiserweight veteran Thomas Hansvoll returns on the Kessler vs. Sartison show on June 21 in Copenhagen. Hansvoll face Argentinian Juan Manuel Garay. Also added to the bill is a fight for the unofficial Nordic title between feathers Rikard Lundby, 6-0, from Sweden and Norwegian Andreas Evensen, 7-1, in a fine matchup.
In regards of Kessler, Mogens Palle is already looking forward to a possible showdown against Roy Jones, Jr, and then perhaps a rematch vs. Joe Calzaghe. Mandatory challenger for the winner of Kessler vs. Sartison is Danilo Haussler.
He´s back: 50-year old former EBU jr. middleweight champ Edip Sekowitsch (a/k/a Secovic) returned to action on June 1 in Vienna after eight years out and knocked out German Steve Klockow. Sekowitsch, now fighting at light heavyweight, is calling out for Graciano Rocchigiani. Edip turned pro back in 1981. Check out edip.at for an update on
