The September 29 edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on Fox Sports 1 has been approved to take place at The Palms in Las Vegas.
In what was a mere formality, the request was unanimously approved by the Nevada State Athletic Commission during its monthly agenda hearing Monday morning.
Headlining the card, Javier Fortuna makes his first super featherweight title defense versus Carlos Ivan Velasquez. The co-main pits unbeaten super welterweights Domonique Dolton and Oscar Molina in a 10-round bout.
Fortuna claimed the super featherweight title with a convincing 12-round win over Bryan Vasquez in May. The feat made Fortuna a two-division champ, having previously reigned at featherweight; he is 6-0 since permanetly moving up in weight two years ago.
Velasquez has won four straight following the lone loss of his career, a 10th round stoppage at the hands of former 122 lb. champ Rico Ramos in Sept. '13. The 31-year old—whose twin brother Juan Carlos Velasquez is also a pro boxer—represented Puerto Rico in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
