Japan's Nobuhiro Ishida, who's been training for two weeks in Los Angeles, is ready to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for the middleweight world championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC). Ishida has been mentioned as a possible opponent to face Chavez on September 24 in Mexico City.
"Look no further, I am the right opponent for Chavez," Ishida said by telephone from the capital of California.
Ishida (23-6-2, 8 KOs), former interim-champion of the world, surprised everyone with his easy first round knockout of previously undefeated puncher James Kirkland, who went down three times before the fight was stopped on April 9 in Las Vegas.
"Some time ago I wanted to fight Chavez, but this is the right moment," he said.
The Japanese boxer, led by Mexican trainer Edison Reynoso, is excited about the idea of being face to face in the ring with the son of the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez.
Nobuhiro Ishida, 35, said that he brings enough experience to fight Chavez anywhere in the world.
