The St. Petersburg Times reports that Jeff Lacy's on again-off again return to the ring against Allan Green for October 7, is once again off. The proposed clash was slated to be the chief supporting bout to the trilogy main event between Diego Corrales and Joel Casamayor.
It appears that Lacy is looking to return in a main event bout, but is having a difficult time finding an opponent to help carry a main event. Several weeks ago, Lacy was in negotiations with light heavyweight Antonio Tarver for a Florida clash between the two hometown fighters, but the fight fell apart during negotiations.
Lacy's promoter Gary Shaw told the paper that Lacy may not fight again this year.
"The Green fight is dead for right now. Jeff told me he may not fight for the rest of this year," said Shaw.
