As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, Anthony ‘Can You Dig It!’ Yigit (11-0-1, 4 KOs) will face ‘The Golden Boy’ Kim Poulsen (26-1, 7 KOs) in a hotly anticipated all-Scandinavian contest when the Nordic Fight Night returns to the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn on February 7.

This will not be the first time Yigit has come up against Danish opposition. In April 2014, the Swedish light welterweight claimed a sixth-round technical decision victory over the previously unbeaten Kasper Bruun. Now, with Poulsen in his sights, the former Olympian is ready to claim another Danish scalp.

‘’I’ve been keeping track of Kim since I turned pro,’’ said Yigit. ‘’We’re a similar weight so I always knew our paths would cross at some point. I’ve watched a lot of his fights. I know he’s a good technical boxer, a real smart fighter, but I’m confident I will win. I don’t think he will be able to cause me any problems.

‘’I think my style will be too much for him. He’s never fought a guy like me. I’m stronger, faster and have better movement. He won’t be able to control me like he’s been able to do with other opponents. He’s going to be in for a big surprise.

‘’I’ve got no problem fighting another Dane in Denmark. Denmark is like a second home to me anyway, so I really don’t feel like I’m the away fighter. The fans might be against me, but it’s natural that they would route for the home fighter.

‘’All I’m focusing on is the win. I want to win and look good doing it. That’s all that’s important to me. Of course, if the chance comes to get the stoppage, I will take it.’’

Yigit faces a tough task ahead. Poulsen has won twenty-six of his twenty-seven professional contest and is unbeaten in his last twenty-three fights. Having claimed the Austrian title with a first-round TKO in his last outing, Poulsen’s confidence is at an all time high, and ‘The Golden Boy’ believes he has the beating of his Swedish rival.

‘’Anthony has a lot of amateur experience but as a professional I’m far more accomplished,’’ said Poulsen. ‘’He is a good boxer with a good work rate, but if I didn’t believe in myself, I wouldn’t be boxing. Anthony has my respect, however he is no different to any of the other opponents I have faced. It will be a tough fight but I’m coming to win.

‘’This is a huge opportunity for me. I will be training for this like it is a world title fight. I want to show all my fans the improvements I have made since moving to Austria. I left a boy and will be coming back a man!’’

Promoter Nisse Sauerland is looking forward to what he describes as a ’’50-50 fight’’ between ‘’two of Scandinavia’s most promising boxers’’. Said Sauerland: ‘’This is going to be a fantastic match-up. It’s a real 50-50 fight, and what the Nordic Fight Night is all about. We have two of Scandinavia’s most promising boxers going toe-to-toe, with everything on the line. February 7 is shaping up to be a great show, and we still have a number of exciting fights to announce. We are going to start the New Year as we mean to continue, with a evening of world-class boxing at the Arena Nord.’’

Danish cruiserweight Micki Nielsen (16-0, 12 KOs) will headline the action-packed show in Frederikshavn, which also features Dennis Ceylan’s (12-0-1, 6 KOs) rematch with Cristian Montilla (6-3-1, 3 KOs), rising Danish stars Abdul Khattab (9-0, 3 KOs) and Rashid Kassem (6-0, 3 KOs), plus Norwegian talents Tim-Robin Lihaug (9-1, 5 KOs), Simen Smaadal (8-1, 3 KOs), Alexander Hagen (5-1, 1 KOs) and Kai Robin Havnaa (1-0).
