Former two-time heavyweight champion Nikolai Valuev is upset with the "rumors and gossip" being written about his career. Shortly after Valuev revealed that he would undergo surgery on his left shoulder, stories began to appear that his career was over. Valuev is planning to fight again in 2011.

Valuev would still like to fight WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. Vitali is going to defend his title against Shannon Briggs on October 16. Valuev blames himself and Don King for the negotiations breaking apart the first time over their demand for $4 million dollars. The second round of negotiations Valuev places the blame on Klitschko. He said Klitschko was not reasonable and wanted all of the television money.

Valuev says Klitschko made a decision to fight Briggs because he is cheaper and less of  risk.

"With [Briggs], there is a lot less risk. The money may have also meant something [with his decision]. Vitali probably figured it all out and decided that [Briggs] would be more profitable. Incidentally, he told me so: 'I am a businessman, I must count the money.' And I, regardless, have to now look after my health," Valuev told Russian reporter Alexander Pavlov.
