The WBO minimum weight title defense of Donnie Nietes has been moved once again, this time to September 5, on the undercard of  Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s bout that was also postponed after Chavez Jr suffered a rib injury in training.

The Chavez Jr main event was to be featured on the Top Rank promotion "Latin Fury 10" in Mexico in which perennial  world light flyweight contender Juanito Rubillar comes in as a late replacement for Sonny Boy Jaro who failed to make the trip because of a snafu over his transient visa battles WBA interim champion Giovanni Segura.

Also featured on the card in an eight round bout is super featherweight Michael Farenas, a protege of former two-division world champion Gerry Penalosa.

Michael Aldeguer of the ALA Gym told us early this afternoon that he was assured by international matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz that the Nietes title defense against interim champion Manuel “Chango” Vargas will definitely take place on September 5 in Mexico.

Nietes continues to train at the Wild Card Gym of Freddie Roach in Los Angeles and has been disappointed by the two postponements so far.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told us earlier that flashy world-rated southpaw Z “The Dream” Gorres will be featured on the September 5 card.

Segura won the WBA interim title last March 14 with a 4th round TKO victory over Cesar Canchila, dropping Canchila once in rounds one and two before the referee called a halt in the fourth. Segura has a record of 20-1-1 with 16 knockouts.

The 32 year old southpaw Rubillar has a record of 46-12-7 with 22 knockouts and is coming off an 8th round technical decision loss to Omar Nino Romero in a WBC title eliminator last June 6 after losing in his title shot against Sosa on November 29, 2008.
