Nicola Adams is targeting a quick-fire return after having her US debut cancelled at the 11th hour on Saturday.
The Leeds flyweight had been set to open the card at the T-Mobile Arena as Gennady Golovkin and Saul Alvarez battled to a split draw for the middleweight championship of the world.
But 34-year-old Adams, who was meant to fight Hungarian opposition, was left crestfallen after being told that her debut across the pond was off.
Alexandra Vlajk, 37, was the foe selected to give Adams a test over four rounds on the ‘Supremacy’ card, but she –– with a record of 11 victories, six defeats –– failed to complete medical paper work related to her eye tests, leaving the Nevada State Athletic Commission with little choice but to pull the fight from the big bill that everyone had been waiting for.
It was originally thought that a blood test was the issue for Vlajk.
But Adams, who said she was “gutted” at the news, wants a new date and venue to fight as soon as possible.
“This only happens in boxing and there's nothing you can do about it,” she told reporters shortly after learning of the news. “I only found out when I got to the dressing room.
“It's so disappointing because I had been working on new things I wanted to show in this fight.”
The only saving grace for the OBE and MBE holder, who is a two-time Olympic champion, was that her partner, Marlen Esparza, won on the undercard of Golovkin vs. Canelo.
As previously mentioned, Adams is from Leeds and boxing returns to there –– at the First Direct Arena –– on October 21, exclusively live on BoxNation and BT Sport.

And Adams wants in on the feast of fistic action in her home city.
“There is a card in Leeds on October 21 so I'm hoping I can get on that now,” the Frank Warren-promoted undefeated fighter concluded.
