At the MEN Arena in Manchester, England, Nicky Cook (29-1, 16KOs) boxed his way to a twelve-round unanimous decision to capture the WBO super featherweight title with a minor upset over Alex Arthur (26-2, 19KOs). The scores were 117-112, 117-111, and 115-114.
Cook used his boxing skills in the early rounds to outbox the champion. In the fourth, Arthur shook Cook up with some straight punches that were set up by his left jab. Some body shots and hard left hands would buckle Cook again in the fifth. Cook began to use his quick hands to land hard combinations in the sixth, Arthur tried to counter with some body shots, but a right hand from Cook buckled Arthur bad in the final twenty-seconds.
