Former WBA flyweight champion Luis "Nica" Concepcion (30-3, 22KOs) of Panama is now the number one-ranked flyweight contender under the WBC. Last month, Concepcion was # 2, behind Mexico's Edgar Sosa, who was the mandatory challenger. Edgar had his title shot last Friday, but lost by unanimous decision to full champion Akira Yaegashi.
Concepcion, who currently holds the WBC's Silver title, has won seven fights in a row since his disastrous 2011, when he lost his title and two fights by way of stoppage to Mexico's Hernan "Tyson" Marquez.
