The decision has just come down that Montreal's Herman Ngoudjo will not have his trainer Howard Grant in the corner for the bout with Juan Urango on Friday night at the Bell Centre. The two fighters will battle for the vacant IBF junior welterweight title.
The Montreal Gazette reports that Ngoudjo's trainer was suspended until the end of March for pushing referee Marlon Wright in the aftermath of last October's bout between IBF super middleweight champ Lucian Bute and challenger Librado Andrade. Grant appealed the suspension, but this morning the decision was upheld.
Grant's older brother, Otis, a former middleweight champion, will now work the corner.
"It's sad," said Ngoudjo. "But we've been talking strategy, because we weren't sure how the suspension would turn out. Nothing changes. I've been prepared. Nothing will be different. I feel the same."
