2016 hasn’t been a banner year for boxing but that doesn’t mean nothing happened. Several fighters had exceptional years and many picked up big career wins since the last update to the site’s list in the early days of summer.

Carl Frampton and Vasyl Lomachenko earned a place and a bump respectively in each of their last outings. Frampton showed class and grit in a win over Leo Santa Cruz. Lomachenko moved up with an eye-opening clinic against the usually durable Nicholas Walters.

It wasn’t just new faces in the second half of the year. Roman Gonzalez added a title in his fourth weight class and got the toughest fight of his career. Manny Pacquiao returned to beat yet another top ten contender with relative ease, showing he’s still got plenty in the tank and also reminding us how good Floyd Mayweather still had to be to beat him.

What of Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev? Does the controversy in the scoring of their fight merit a change in the ratings?

Here’s where the list stands on the eve of a new year: https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/view.php?pg=pound
