The Los Angeles Times reports that Nevada State Athletic Commission is planning to issue a complaint against Jose Luis Castillo, for failing to make weight for his bout with Diego Corrales and in the process causing the cancellation of their fight. Castillo will have 20 days to respond.
The word going around, is that the NSAC may possibly revoke Castillo's boxing license, ruling out any possibility of Castillo fighting for at least one-year. Other possibilities include a fine of $250,000 and a suspension.
"We had a conversation with him May 8 in which we warned him about coming in over the weight limit and he assured us there was no problem, that he was on target. He said there would be no weight issue come June," said Keith Kizer, commissioner of the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
"I was shocked by his weight. You would figure he would have told someone in advance."
