Johnny Neslon, former champion and expert analyst for Sky Sports, views Amir Khan (29-3, 19KOs) as a very tough stylistic matchup for WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs).

Khan is returning on December 13th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He faces fellow former champion Devon Alexander in a hard clash of styles. The fight headlines a Shotwime televised tripleheader and Sky Sports has picked up the contest as well. If Khan is successful, he is sure to be a frontrunner to face Mayweather in 2015. Mayweather is looking to return on May 2nd at the MGM Grand.

"We’ve seen Amir Khan’s career maturing in front of us," Nelson told Sky Sports. "He’s had ups and downs and is now well-known in the States – if not better known in the States than he is here – so he’s done very well to keep himself at the top tier. So to be in the mix to fight Floyd Mayweather is a big shout – it’s a big fight.

"They’ve got him in against Alexander so it’s not an easy task but once he gets through this the job’s done. Mayweather has an eye on Khan and looks at him thinking ‘this is a kid I just don’t need’. Khan is just completely wrong for him, he’s too young , his tempo is too high and his hands are too fast. If anyone is going to give Mayweather trouble, it’s Khan."
