Jacksonville, FL: IBF / WBO / WBA Lightweight king Nate Campbell will return to the broadcasters chair for 2 weeks, as he was selected to fill in for Teddy Atlas on ESPN2's Wednesday Night Fights. With Atlas heading to China to cover the Olympics, Campbell will co-host the August 6th and August 13th editions of the Wednesday night series, alongside Joe Tessitore. Campbell's recent appearance as an in-studio analyst on ESPN2 impressed many, leading to his selection for these dates. "I can't thank ESPN enough for this opportunity, and for their confidence in me as a commentator" said Campbell.
"One day when I'm done fighting, broadcasting is definitely something I would really enjoy pursuing." Although he is currently in training camp for his September 13 title defense on Showtime against the undefeated Joan Guzman, Campbell indicated that this would not affect his camp, or be any kind of distraction as he prepares for Guzman. "The August 13 card is in Lauderdale, so I was going to that show anyways because my training camp is in Lauderdale, and my boy Joe Greene is fighting on that card. So the only day that would possibly have been affected would have been the August 6th date. But my trainer John David Jackson also trains Randall Bailey, who is fighing on that same day, so John David would have been gone that day anyways. So no, it's not any kind of distraction".
