Veteran trainer Naazim Richardson is not picking Amir Khan to win a potential fight with WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 3rd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - but he's confident that Khan can restore a lot of his thunder by simply "doing well" in the fight. Khan's career has taken some big bumps after losing back to back fights to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia, and then struggling in his decision win over veteran Julio Diaz.
"Amir Khan can reassert himself as a player in the game with this fight. We know that anything can happen. I don't think he can beat Floyd. He's got such a bad rap that he doesn't have to win. All he needs is to do well and then Amir Khan is back on track. If he can do well against Floyd, it would be a big step in the direction of getting back in the game. Because right now a lot of people have written him off. He has fast hands and fast feet and that will help him. Floyd has not fought a lot of young guys like that," Richardson said.
