Junior lightweight Mzonke Fana is disputing claims that he was stripped by the International Boxing Federation (IBF). Fana's manager, Mava Mallan, is claiming that nobody from the IBF has advised him, in writing or otherwise, about his fighter being stripped of the title.

The IBF reportedly stripped Fana for not going forward with a scheduled June 11 defense against mandatory challenger Argenis Mendez. Malla says his fighter never signed a contract or reached an agreement on the money.

Malla told SABC News: "We have heard that Fana has been stripped of his title but we are under the control of Boxing South Africa which is controlled by an act of parliament. As far as we know we have only been notified that Fana has been pulled out of the fight."
