In his first bout since losing a decision to Antonio Tarver last June, Elvir "Kosovo Kid" Muriqi (35-4, 22KOs) had no problems in busting Jameel Wilson (13-12-3, 8 KOs) over four rounds at the Utopia Paradise Theater in the Bronx, New York.
Muriqi made the fight seem like a sparring session with a one-sided pounding that forced Wilson's corner throw in the towel at the end of the fourth round.
In the co-feature, former WBA light heavyweight champion Lou "Honey Boy" Del Valle (36-5-1, 22KOs), coming off two consecutive decision losses and fighting as a cruiserweight, won an eight-round split-decision over Newton Kidd (6-7-1, 4KOs).
Del Valle shaking off a lot of rust to win. Still, he could have looked better against a fighter who's gone winless since 2005. The scores were 78-74 Del Valle, 77-75 Del Valle and 78-74 Kidd.
Since 2005, Del Valle has averaged a single fight per year. At nearly 40-years-old, he needs to get much busier if he wants to put himself in position for a title shot or a final payday before retirement.
