Former European super-bantamweight champion Rendall Munroe feels he still has a lot to prove to the boxing public despite being on the verge of his second world title shot against British rival Scott Quigg later this year.

The 31 year-old, who lost out to the division’s number one Toshiaki Nishioka for the WBC title in 2010, is lined-up to battle unbeaten Lonsdale belt holder Quigg, 23, for the interim WBA belt and is ready to prove that he is still the number one in Britain at 122lbs.

““It's a good British clash that a lot of fans want to see,” Munroe told World Boxing News.

“This fight is my chance to make my boxing dream of becoming a world champion come true and put food on my family's table.

“My last world title shot was a good learning curb and I learnt a lot from it. Although I'm going to be 32, I'll look like a 22 year-old come fight night and It's going to be a good good fight.

“Trust me, I am coming with my AAA game and I am a man looking to prove a lot of people and boxing fans wrong.”

Munroe, who worked as a bin-man in his hometown until last October, is now fully focused on boxing following his sponsorship deal with Elite Construction and believes the extra time to train will make him an even better fighter.

“People think that I'm past my best but they are very wrong,” explained Munroe.

“I've been doing a full time job since turning pro and have still been able to produce the goods. Now with big thanks to Elite Construction, I can put 100% into my boxing. “

Hatton Promotions promote both fighters and have recently announced that they will stage the bout in the summer with a date and venue to be announced shortly. The winner of the interim bout would then be in pole position to face full champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, who impressed to take the title from Rico Ramos in January.
