In a decent upset, Rendall Munroe (14-1, 6KOs) was able to edge undefeated Kiko Martinez to win the Euro super bantamweight title in Nottingham. The win by majority decision saw scorecards of 115-113, 115-113 and 114-114. Martinez made a name for himself in 2007 after blowing out prospect Bernard Dunne in a single round.
"It's fantastic," Munroe told Sky Sports 2. "Obviously I'd been told by my trainers what to do, follow the gameplan. And that's why they are there, to tell me what to do."
"He was nothing spectacular. I've been sparring Jason Booth and Carl Johanneson. Everyone says they can't believe I am an eight stone 10 pounds fighter with the size that I am."
