Former champion Anthony Mundine displayed his softer side when asked for his thoughts on Danny Green's recent knockout loss. The two boxers have been rivals for many years and rarely have anything nice to say about each other. Mundine decisioned Green in 2006, when both were super middleweights, in the most lucrative fight to ever take place in Australia.
Last week, the 38-year-old Green was knocked out in the eleventh round by defending WBC cruiserweight champion Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. At the time of the knockout, Green was ahead on the official scorecards and appeared to be on the verge of winning another world title.
"I felt a little bit sorry for Danny last night," Mundine told Fox Sports News. "As a fighter, you don't want to see anyone get beat like that and get knocked out like that. Hopefully he can bounce back. Hopefully he's alright. I'm not going to bad-mouth Danny like a lot of people think I would. I'm not going to say retire or this or that; that's up to Danny. He makes that decision."
