On August 29th "Sugar" Shane Mosley will return to the ring against Ricardo Mayorga in a pay-per-view event that will be promoted under his own promotional banner. The former three-division champion is putting up his own money to finance the show.
Mosley wants to use the upcoming fight to kick off his promoting career and said that he is looking to help fighters get the best deals possible. He wants to put them in the best possible position to succeed.
"I want to finance the show and do it myself. My girl is helping me out very much. She is a smart and strong business lady. I want to do it with my promotional company. We are going to start it off and get some fighters and make sure the fighters are getting treated and paid right," said Mosley.
One of the fighters that Mosley will be working with is his son Shane Jr. The elder Mosley has fought under a few different promotional companies during his long career and said that he is thankful to be in a position where he can help other fighters.
"I want the fighters to be the best they can be and get the most money they can get because they are the ones putting their lives on the line. I don't do this for the money or to take advantage of the fighters. I want to put them in the best positions," Mosley told BoxingScene.com.
Mosley-Mayorga takes place August 29th at The Forum in Inglewood, CA and will be distributed on pay-per-view.
